The Orioles signed Watson to a minor league contract in 2020.
Ryan worked his way up to Norfolk where he appeared in 13 games for the Orioles' Triple A affiliate.
On August 9th 2024, Watson was traded to the San Francisco Giants for cash considerations.
In 2025, Watson played in 46 games for the Sacramento River Cats.
Used out of the bullpen, he posted a 4-3 record with 9 saves.
Watson was selected by the Athletics, formerly of Oakland, in the Rule 5 Draft.
He was then traded to the Boston Red Sox for prospect Justin Reimer and cash.
Watson debuted in the sixth inning in what was ultimately a losing contesnt for Boston.
He went 2.1 innings in relief and his debut makes him the 237th Baysox alum to make the Show.
It was a tough task; two Reds on the bags with the heart of the line-up due to hit.
The first batter he faced, Sal Stewart, drew a walk against the rookie to load the bases.
The next batter was power hitter Eugenio Suarez, ready to do some damage.
After a seven pitch battle, Watson was able to get Suarez to ground out, ending the frame.
Watson would walk two more and record his first strike out before being relieved in the 9th by Aroldis Chapman.
